Comparing The Facts......

Sony BMG XCP Software:
**This software tool is run without your knowledge or consent.
** Changes system configuration without user permission at time of change.
** Cannot be uninstalled by Windows Add/Remove Programs and no uninstaller is provided with application.
**The software creates security holes and degrades the performance of computers.
**Prevents CD-burning software from functioning correctly.
** Defends against removal of, or changes to, its components. Registry entries and program files both protected.
**Constantly monitors your running applications and open windows to see if you're running software the DRM system is protecting against, even when there's no protected CD in the drive.
**File and process hiding creates a security hole which is already used by multiple viruses.
**When its actions were first discovered, Sony offered an uninstaller that didn't remove anything. This is freely available on their website. Is known to cause system instability.
**Sony claimed the rootkit didn't phone home when it did.

Sony DADC SecuROM:

**When its actions were first discovered, Sony offered an uninstaller that didn't remove anything. This can only be obtained by emailing SecuROM support.

Makes me wonder when Sony will be sued for SecuROM.
